Hi again, I’m Lisa!
Here is the short version of my story
And here is the long story:
Like so many women, I always imagined that having children would happen naturally. But after marrying later in life (40 years old) and spending two years trying to conceive, including several timed Clomid cycles with my local reproductive endocrinologist, I began to wonder if becoming a mom would ever happen for me.
What could I do? By this time, I was already 43 years old and I wasn't sure I had the emotional, physical, or financial strength to pursue IVF. While researching my options in northern Colorado, I discovered CNY Fertility in New York. NEW YORK? It sounded impossible.
Then, almost unbelievably, CNY opened a clinic just 2½ hours from my home in Colorado. It felt like the opportunity I'd been waiting for.
Over the next three years, IVF became a huge part of my life. There were countless injections, medications, supplements, early-morning monitoring appointments, waiting, setbacks, heartbreak, and difficult decisions. Every cycle brought hope, uncertainty, and the question every fertility patient knows so well: What if this one doesn't work?
My journey included three timed intercourse cycles, three surgeries for endometriosis, seven egg retrievals, eleven embryo transfers, multiple pregnancy losses, and many unsuccessful cycles. It wasn't the path I ever imagined taking. I can still remember the dreaded phone calls from the nurses with the "I'm sorry, your beta was negative today" - over and over.
But after five years of infertility—including three years of IVF—my journey eventually led me to the greatest blessing of my life: my son. I gave birth the month before I turned 46 years old!
Somewhere along the way, I realized I was becoming more than just a patient. I wanted to understand everything. I immersed myself in fertility medications, stimulation protocols, embryo grading, hormone levels, lab results, transfer protocols and preparation, supplements, donor eggs, and the research behind it all.
Knowledge didn't take away the heartbreak, but it gave me something incredibly valuable: confidence. It helped me ask better questions, understand my options, and feel like an active participant in my care instead of someone simply along for the ride.
My passion for understanding fertility wasn't entirely new. My education is rooted in science. I earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science with a focus on reproduction, followed by my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, where I developed a special interest in theriogenology—the study of reproduction.
As a veterinarian, I've spent my career helping families navigate emotional and complex medical decisions with compassion, honesty, and empathy. Those experiences taught me that people don't just need information—they need someone who will listen, explain, and walk beside them.
Today, I combine my education and scientific background with my personal IVF experience to support women navigating infertility.
I'm not here to replace your reproductive endocrinologist or give medical advice. I'm here to help you understand the process, organize the overwhelming details, prepare for each step, and feel supported through the ups and downs. Whether you're preparing for your first consultation, your fifth egg retrieval, a frozen embryo transfer, considering donor eggs, or simply trying to make sense of everything, you don't have to navigate this journey by yourself.
My goal is simple: to be the person I wished I'd had during my own IVF journey—someone who understood both the science and the emotions, someone who could explain the confusing parts, celebrate the victories, sit with the disappointments, and remind me that I wasn't alone.
Infertility is one of the most isolating experiences a person can go through. My hope is that, after finding me, you'll never have to feel like you're facing it alone.
I'm so glad you're here, and I'd be honored to walk this journey with you.
If you're unfamiliar with CNY Fertility, they are known for providing more affordable fertility treatment and currently have full-service clinics in New York, Colorado, Florida, and Virginia, along with satellite monitoring locations across the United States.
